Paddy’s Playground officially opens at Greenhall Nursery!
The children of Greenhall Nursery had great fun exploring their new accessible playground following the official opening on 8th June 2018. They were joined by families and members of the local community, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Stafford.
The Nursery has been fundraising to develop the outdoor areas over a number of years and thanks to the Lord’s Taverners for their generous contribution, The Rotary Club of Stafford Castle, members of the local community and the families, friends and staff of Greenhall (both past and present) who have organised many fundraising events or taken part in sponsored challenges over recent years. The new playground is full of equipment that all the children can use, including a trampoline, a basket swing, an accessible roundabout and a range of musical instruments. This supports the nursery’s inclusive ethos where children can learn together and have fun!
The playground is named in memory of the late Paddy O'Leary, one of the founding members of Greenhall and a former Governor. It was officially opened by Brenda O’Leary, Paddy’s widow.
Headteacher, Joanne di Castiglione said ‘Paddy was an inspirational man, full of passion, enthusiasm and commitment to what he believed. Naming the area after him is perfect – it captures his sense of fun and foretells of the enjoyment that the children will get from this area both now and in the future. I think he would have been delighted to see the children having so much fun. A huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible. We are extremely grateful for your support.’
